Have you ever felt that people pay much less attention to Father’s Day celebrations? But we do love our dads! So, we reckon part of the reason is because our dads are the typical Asian dads: supportive, but quiet and low-key with a strong preference for practicality in all matters – including celebrations and gifts!
That’s why we’ve always advocated for a good meal with Dad. In one fell swoop, you cater to his preferences, present a wonderful gift that can be shared with the whole fam (if he likes), and share an experience that will become a wonderful memory. You also get to spend some time with him in a way that mightn’t have happened since you were 12!
Here’re some of our favourite picks for a magnificent meal with the man who loved you even before you were born:
-
When you want to let him feel on top of the world
-
When you know he lives for the hustle (and bustle)
-
When you want to share a secret

ON TOP OF THE WORLD
Because Dad’s love put me at the top of the world. Now it’s my turn to put him there. For one meal, at least!
Altro Zafferano
Panoramic Marina Bay skyline, and an Italian feast: your dad’s physically in one of the highest points in Singapore but his palate (and belly!) has zoomed off to delicious Italy. On 14 June only, Altro Zafferano offers The Italian Table Brunch – Father’s Day Edition ($88++ per person) featuring a smorgasboard of both modern and classic Italian gastronomic favourites such as 36-months aged Parma Ham paired with sweet Sicilian rock melon; Artisanal Orecchiette with Cherry Tomatoes and Stracciatella; and a Crispy Pork Belly ‘Porchetta’, with Curly Kale and Wine Jus.
If your dad feels like imbibing, there’re two free-flow options available – but for Father’s Day, we’d say splash out for the Free Flow Champagne and Premium Wines ($78++ per person). All the better to toast him with, too!

黑珍珠 The Black Pearl
A rooftop restaurant with a view perfect for sentimental dads, or perhaps for those with an interest in history and architecture. From the windows, one’s vision sweeps over the distinctive colonial-era architecture of Raffles Hotel nestling in unexpected harmony amongst the cubic forms of old high-rises, and the soaring metal and glass bodies of contemporary skyscrapers.
Against this backdrop, 黑珍珠 The Black Pearl serves a 7-course Father’s Day special ($128++ per person): delicately presented, but rich and hearty enough to fill up even the hungriest of bellies. Think a piquant Crispy Roasted Chicken with Dried Chillies, and a savoury, rib-sticking 10-Head South African Abalone Braised Rice. Better yet, it’s available all of June for both lunch and dinner, so you can bring dad anytime he’s free. Bring granddad, too: he’d appreciate the artistry of 黑珍珠 The Black Pearl’s Yue cuisine.

LIVING FOR THE HUSTLE & BUSTLE
When Dad loves being in the middle of a lively scene, and wants to see (and sometimes be seen)!
Bedrock Bar & Grill
If your dad loves a lively and energetic vibe wherever he goes, then book your spots at Bedrock Bar & Grill, located smack-dab in the centre of one of Singapore’s oldest and busiest shopping districts – Orchard. You and your dad can take a walk down this shopping street, which was glam even before the word glam was coined, and admire how it has remained vibrant for so many years before settling into Bedrock Bar & Grill for their “A Cut Above The Rest” Father’s Day set lunch special ($88++ per person).
The 3-course meal offers a luxurious start with snow crab, moves on to a choice between Australian wagyu and red snapper mains, and finishes with a dessert so rich and plush it was named the Chocolate Indulgent. We, of course, recommend heading straight for the Australian Wagyu Ribeye MB 8/9: Bedrock Bar & Grill’s reputation for their expertise in wood-fire and sourcing some of the best meats in the world is well-deserved; and a perfect match for the complimentary glass of Casas del Toqui Merlot that the restaurant gifts in celebration of dad.

Available from 12 to 18 June for lunch only; reservations recommended

The Masses
Your dad loves the bustle and also wants to chill with the fam? We’ve got the ticket: head straight for The Masses’ Farm-Style Communal Sunday Brunch ($68.80++ per adult). This glorious 10-course sharing menu promises a table brimful of artisanal breads and house-made dips, vibrant garden salads, cold cuts, and delectable appetisers as well as poultry and seafood mains. Surprise second helpings will be offered tableside before finishing with a summery-sweet dessert.
This gorgeously abundant feast will be the perfect catalyst to a convivial start to the day – and best of all, Dad dines free if the table comprises four adults (including dad). We also like how Chef Dylan has cheekily added a 1-for-1 beer and wine deal (applies to draft beer and house-pours), perfect for those who want to give dad a toast just for that day but aren’t really keen on drinking through the meal.

Fat Cow
Sometimes we hear this beloved Japanese wagyu specialist described a destination dining spot; and we can understand why. Tucked away in a quiet leafy corner of Orchard, first-timers might indeed get lost on the way. But once you’ve been there once, you mightn’t ever be able to go anywhere else for Japanese wagyu!
It’s the perfect spot for a unique Father’s Day dinner, especially when – for one night only – Head Chef Shingo introduces a special menu inspired by his own father and the other fatherly men he knows.
The 6-course set dinner ($168++ per diner) is centred on the ultra-luxe Miyazawa wagyu; and pairs it with a plenitude of luxe ingredients such as sea urchin and caviar to bring out all the juiciest, most delicious nuances of the different cuts for this rich Japanese beef. And if your dad loves learning about his food before he eats it, the dinner features Yashuhiro Iida, a Miyazawa wagyu specialist who specially flew in from Chiba to be a guest speaker for this one evening only!

Available only on 15 June for dinner
